Our Classes

We offer a variety of classes for quilters and sewers of every ability. Our classes hold up to 8 students each session and are great for groups and clubs. Read our descriptions below to find the perfect class for you!

Classes


Kids Club

Kids Club: Our kids club meets the third Thursday at 3:30. Kathy teaches the kids, ages 8 to 12, simple sewing projects each month. All supplies and machines are provided. Supply fee is $20 per month all are welcome, no sewing experience needed. Must call and make a reservation.

Tucker Club

Tucker Club: A new free club will be starting at Beginnings, led by Lynn. The fourth Monday of each month at 1:00 we will be offering a club that is based on the Studio 180 Design tools. These are tools designed by Deb Tucker that help your sewing be more accurate. Those attending will be working on a Tucker project, or if you are new to these tools you could come and try one out. Lots of "show and tell" and advice on how to use the tools.

BEGINNING QUILTING WITH PAT

Beginning Quilt with Pat Pierce. Learn the basics of quilting from one of Hendersonville's best beginning teachers. You will make a wall hanging or baby quilt using a charm pack (5" squares). TO REGISTER AND GET THE SUPPLY LIST , CALL THE SHOP AT 828-693-6622.

Beginning Machine Quilting

In this class, Connie will teach the basics of machine quilting on your domestic machine. We will explore straight line quilting using a walking foot, and free-motion quilting using a darning foot. We will provide 2 quilt sandwiches for you to practice the techniques. You will need to bring own machine and both feet.

Wool Applique Club

Slow down & put your feet up. Discover the joy of handwork with wool applique on the first Monday of the month from 10:00 to Noon. In each session we learn a new embroidery stitch, have show & tell, and work on a project - your own or one as a group. All skill levels are invited. There is no charge to join the group. We have a large supply of woo, embroidery threads, books and patterns. Note: Beginning in January we will be doing Summertime Sampler by Erica Kaprow as a Block of the Month

Meet once a month for Lynn's CLUB! We are making a wall hanging piece, Cadence Court which involves construction of different wedges sewn together in a circle. Beautiful!!! You can still join in

Charms on Point Tote

Machine Embroidery Club

A Step Beyond with Pat

A Step Beyond is an opportunity for beginning quilters to learn techniques beyond joining squares and rectangles. The first month we will make a block using half square triangles and a block featuring flying geese. Techniques will change each month.

EPP - English Paper Piecing

English Paper-Piecing: Our EPP group, led by Maryanne will meet once a month, on the third Saturday of each month at 10:30. Maryanne teaches color and fabric choices, cutting-especially fussy cutting and piecing of EPP Millefiori quilts. The group runs like a sewing bee-you bring the project you are working on and get advice/hints and tips. It is suitable for quilters who are already comfortable with hand sewing. Beginners will be welcome but should first chat with Maryanne to be sure that they know all the ins and outs first before jumping in! If you want to join please contact Maryanne at 843 801 3411 or at the shop, to get a list of what she suggests yo will need for the class.
