Machine Smocking in a Hoop, Cherry Picked

Create an insert using Classic Sewing "Cherry Picked" design.  Use your machine to create a smocked look on pleated fabric.

Class Supplies
Classic Sewing Magazine, Summer 2024 contains the download code for the digitized embroidery, "Cherry Picked".  Download prior to class in your embroidery machine's preferred format to load onto machine or bring USB drive for download assistance half an hour before class begins.

A white pleated insert is provided.  If working on a garment or a specific project, bring the desired fabric.  Cut at 5" x width of fabric, pleated with 9 rows across the width of the project.

Embroidery machine in working order.  Multiple hoopings will be needed for hoops less than 5" x 7".

Sticky stabilizer and wash away topper.

Basic sewing supplies including:  Hand and machine needles, thread, bobbins, scissors, seam ripper, etc.

Suggested Embroidery Thread Colors:  Dark Brown, Grass Green, Cherry Red, White (or a color to match the fabric for the faux back smocking.  Gold may be added for the optional border.
