New York Beauty

Yes you can make a NYB!! The paper piecing (foundation piecing) is easy and the curves, though somewhat daunting at first, becomes easy with good technique and some practice.

We will make at least eight blocks and put them together into a small hanging or table topper.

Once you understand the process, blocks of any size and arrangement, are possible. Accuracy is a must. If you are bringing your own machine, bring your ¼” foot. If you don’t have one, I will show you how to make a guide. We will discuss color choices, organization, cutting and sewing in class, but sewing at home between classes is necessary in order to use class time efficiently.

The triangle border is optional, but I will show you how to fit a pieced border to your blocks.

Please note: This is not a beginning paper piecing class. Although the patterns are easy, a solid understanding of the process is necessary for completion of your piece.

Because cutting is minimal for the different parts of the block, you can cut and sew arcs on the first day of class!
